BREAKFAST AND DRIVE TO PANTAI CENANG

The hotel package that we booked came with breakfast for our entire stay at Hotel Bahagia. The food wasn't fantastic, but it was sufficient to load up energy before you carry on for the day.

Breakfast spread:

  1. Coffee and Tea.
  2. Bread section which included white bread that you could toast, and a few spreads. They also had pastries that you would see at a local bakery near your house. (Not Bread Talk standard)
  3. Mushroom soup, porridge, nasi lemak and fried rice which were in separate rice/steam cookers.
  4. A cereal section which only had 2 types of cereal.
  5. Drink section which had cordial drinks. (Orange, syrup, etc)
  6. Fried eggs (scrambled)
  7. Mini hot dogs.
  8. Roti prata that was cut up into smaller slices.
  9. White rice.
  10. Kway Teow.
  11. Maggie Goreng.
  12. Mee Goreng.
  13. Bee Hoon.
  14. Chicken Curry with lots of chicken in it.
Breakfast is from 0730hrs to 1000hrs.

This was just about it for the daily breakfast that was served at Hotel Bahagia. My favourite dishes were the Maggie Goreng and the Chicken Curry. We had our breakfast at around 0830hrs as we wanted to reach Pantai Cenang by 0930hrs. Driving to Pantai Cenang, I soon realised that for the eve of CNY, the place was rather 'empty', which is good!

PANTAI CENANG & START OF JET SKI TOUR

We reached Pantai Cenang around 0945hrs and parked our car beside AB Motel and made our way to the beach to try to look for the DH Water Sports booth. When we reached the spot, we realised that they weren't around. For a moment, I thought we were robbed of our RM100 deposit! But after asking around other booths, they told us that DH Water Sports should be arriving soon. We waiting till around 1000hrs and that's when the staff of DH Water Sports arrived in their MPVs, pulling their jet skis in tow. They starting setting up their booth and while waiting, I decided to take in the awesome morning view of the beach.

Prior to the trip, I was contemplating to use my Asus ZenFone 2 handphone to record some videos while on the trip, but I eventually decided to purchase an action camera. I didn't want to fork out on the latest GoPro and bought the Valore Wi-Fi Action Camera sold at Challenger.

I didn't take any pictures while on the jet ski tour, but here are some videos that caught using the Valore Action Camera.

Check out the video here:

Going on this Jet Ski Tour was probably the best things that I did during this trip! Riding the jet ski on open waters, with an unblocked view of the sea disappearing into the horizon was just an amazing experience! The previous time I came to Langkawi, I did go on a jet ski, but it was only for 5 minutes. My 2 other friends and I booked a jet ski for 15 minutes and each of us had 5 minutes to ride the jet ski. This time around, it was a 3 hour tour! It took me awhile to get used to manoeuvring the jet ski on 'choppy' waters but after awhile, I got used to it.

The few places we visited on the tour:

  1. Pulau Dayang Bunting & Lake of the Pregnant Maiden (We spent about an hour here where we could swim in the lake)
    • The lake is really nice to swim in and the water is not salty at all. However, it is the walk to the lake that may be of some concern to some. You have to climb up a flight of stone steps and then make your way down a steeper set of steps to reach the lake. To be honest, I got tired walking to the lake.
  2. Beras Basah Island
    • The beach at this island is really nice and where you can just sit and relax.
  3. Eagle Feeding spot

As we made our final ride back to Pantai Cenang, the tour guide let us go full throttle on the jet ski. As the waters near the shore weren't as 'choppy' as the ones further out, I confidently hit top speed. Before we knew it, the tour had ended and we returned to the shore. We sat around the beach to just enjoy the afternoon sun for awhile before going back to our car to drive to our hotel. It was around 1400hrs when we ended the tour.

EAGLE SQUARE & DINNER

In the evening, we headed to the Eagle Square which is located beside Kuah Jetty. At the entrance, you can see some shops where they sell some nice souvenirs.

We headed for dinner at this restaurant that was beside Hotel Malaysia Restaurant. (The Indian food place that we had lunch on Day 1). The restaurant is called Sajian Murni Restaurant Ikan Bakar.

2nd Ikan Bakar!

The food here was tastier than the supper we had on Day 1. Especially the Ikan Bakar!

Dinner:

  1. Ikan Bakar - (The fish was a bigger one than the one we had on Day 1)
  2. Fried Sotong
  3. Kang Kong stir fry
  4. White rice
  5. Beef soup - (Large bowl)
  6. Drinks
Total cost: RM80

CHILLING IN THE ROOM

Once I was back in my room, I switched onto HBO and they were showing a movie called 'Unbroken'. The movie was set during 1943, during WWII. It was about a plane crew being shot down during a SAR (Search and Rescue) mission and had to live on inflatable rafts for a few weeks. Eventually 2 of them get caught by the Japanese and are taken in as POWs. The rest of the story shows how the main character, Louie Zamperini, is treated at the POW camp and what happens after the war ended.

It was a really nice movie to just sit back and watch, although I was rather frustrated by the constant loss of signal of the channel. I was also able to watch some football highlights on Fox Sports. Manchester United went to Stamford Bridge, lead 1-0 for most of the match and Chelsea equalised in injury time. The match ended 1-1.

Not really a good way to end Day 2 though!
