This year, the Chinese New Year holidays fell on a Monday and a Tuesday. (8th and 9th Feb). Hence, my family and I decided to go to Langkawi for a short trip from 5th Feb to 8th Feb. As the decision was only made early January, we knew we had to book our accommodation as soon as possible. Flying from Changi to Langkawi costs more compared to flying from KLIA to Langkawi. After much consideration we decided to exploit the exchange rate and drive to KLIA, park our car there and then take a flight to Langkawi. It was also recently announced that the parking charges at KLIA will be RM46 per day and from the 4th day onwards, it will be RM20 per day. You could also park at the recently built LTCP (Long Term Car Park) where the per day rate is RM32. However, you will have to take a shuttle service from the LTCP to the airport.
4 days parking at KLIA:
RM46 * 3 + RM20 = RM158
4 days parking at LTCP:
RM32 * 4 = RM128
We decided to park at KLIA and pay the extra RM30 as we felt parking at KLIA is more convenient and also safer.
BOOKING THE TRIP!
I decided to try out Expedia.com's services and I spent a good 2 hours looking through the different hotels in Langkawi. Eventually we booked ourselves an AirAsia flight and a hotel stay at Hotel Bahagia. As I wanted to do some water sports, I knew it would be good to book a hotel near Pantai Cenang, but unfortunately, most of the hotels along Pantai Cenang were either above our budget or they were all booked. Hence, we booked our stay at Hotel Bahagia which is located in Kuah Town.
Flight + rooms = RM1650+
Total cost for 3 pax
